Everyday Ethereal

Everyday Ethereal brings together various memories, dreams, and daily experiences in order to embrace the beautiful randomness of life.  These prints and paintings showcase  moments that are simultaneously personal and communal. The magic of a clear night, the warm company of friends, the passage of time, the joy of new places, caring for new life and magical wonderings all blend together. Whereas much of my past work has been organized into linear stories, this series is designed to be non-linear. You can put things together as you see fit.

One particular influence on this new series is Gilvan Samico, a Brazilian printmaker who I studied during my early years and had the honor of meeting in 2012. His dreamy folklore style and delicate panel layouts have stuck with me for over a decade. In Everyday Ethereal I pay homage to this master of woodcut by organizing my visual universe into geometric panels that simultaneously break up and balance each composition. I encourage you to explore his woodcut prints.
